Arrange the put-up and take-down together

For fascia or other above-ground lights, include the approximate fitting height, fixing points and clear photos of the ground and access below. Show the intended existing power supply and cable route too.

Safe, clearly limited seasonal work

A–Z offers temporary decorative fitting, including suitable above-ground work after assessment, not specialist high-access or electrical installation. Roof walking, roof ridges, chimneys, tree climbing and work requiring scaffold towers or powered access are outside this service. New sockets, permanent wiring, repairs to damaged light sets and electrical testing or certification are not included. If the lights or supply are of uncertain condition, have them checked by a qualified electrician before fitting. Unsuitable weather, access or fixing points may mean postponing or declining the work.

Only suitable, intact customer-supplied decorations are considered. Access is assessed for each job, including the height, ground conditions, equipment, weather and later take-down. Outdoor lights and leads must be designed for outdoor use and connected through a suitable existing RCD-protected supply according to their instructions. Roof walking, ridges, chimneys, tree climbing, scaffold towers, powered access, permanent wiring, new sockets, circuit work and repair of damaged light sets are excluded. This is decorative fitting, not electrical testing or certification; an uncertain supply or light set needs a qualified electrician first. Work may be postponed or declined where weather, access, products or fixing points are unsuitable.

Straightforward suitable work may use the normal £70 first-hour rate and £35 per additional 30 minutes. This is a labour rate, not a fixed price for a complete outdoor display. The length and type of lights, fitting height, access and fixing points affect the time needed. Larger displays, business premises and combined installation-and-removal packages are assessed and quoted separately. Materials are additional, and January take-down is not included unless agreed.

Can you fit Christmas lights I have already bought?

Yes, the service is for suitable customer-supplied lights and decorations rather than a lighting hire or supply package. Send product links or photos and any manufacturer instructions, along with photos of the intended display area. Products must be complete, undamaged and suitable for their location; outdoor lights and leads must be intended for outdoor use. Will fitting the lights damage my fascia or property?

The surface, existing fixings and suitable product clips are assessed before work is agreed. Jamie will discuss any proposed new fixings first; not every surface allows a removable or mark-free fitting. Loose or fragile fascia boards, unsuitable fixing points or an unsafe cable route may mean changing the plan or declining the display.
