TV walls, bedrooms and spaces you use every day

Panelling can make an existing TV wall feel complete without building a new structure. For a bedroom, a headboard-width section or full wall can frame the bed and bedside furniture. In a home office, a panelled backdrop can add texture and help soften room echo when an appropriate acoustic product is used. Reception walls, salon interiors and small meeting spaces can also be discussed, with the product and installation chosen for the premises.

Customer-supplied panels are welcome. Send the product link, wall height and width, and a photo showing the whole wall before ordering where possible. Panel size, thickness, finish and edge trims affect the layout and the amount needed. Allowing for cuts matters, particularly around alcoves or when matching a central feature. A sample viewed in your own room is useful: an oak or walnut finish can look different beside your flooring and in evening light.

The fitting details make the difference

Jamie checks the existing surface, plans the layout and agrees how the edges will finish. The wall needs to be sound and dry; damaged plaster or a damp problem needs attention before it is covered. Fixings, adhesive or a batten arrangement are selected to suit the panel manufacturer's instructions and the supporting wall. Cuts around switches and sockets, exposed edges and the meeting point with skirting are considered before the first panel goes up.

What acoustic panelling can do for the sound

Suitable acoustic panels absorb some of the sound that would otherwise bounce around a room, helping reduce echo and reverberation. The result depends on the chosen product, how much wall it covers, the room and how it is fitted. Some manufacturers' higher absorption ratings rely on a particular batten and insulation arrangement. Standard decorative slat panels are not a promise of soundproofing against neighbours or another room. If noise transmission is your main concern, say so at the enquiry stage so the right approach can be discussed.

A plain rectangular wall and one with several sockets, returns or alcoves take different amounts of work. How much does wall panelling installation cost?

Jamie provides a fixed written quote after reviewing the wall, chosen panels and finish. Size, preparation, cuts around fittings, edging and any battens affect the price. There is no advertised per-wall package or automatic hourly bill for this service. Send photos, approximate dimensions and a product link for a useful first discussion.

Can you install acoustic panels I have already bought?

Yes. Send the brand, exact product and quantity, along with wall photos and measurements. Jamie checks the installation requirements and whether trims or other materials are needed. Where possible, discuss the layout before ordering so cuts and finishing edges can be allowed for.

Do acoustic wall panels soundproof a room?

Usually their purpose is to absorb sound within the room and reduce echo. Stopping noise travelling through a wall is a different problem. Results depend on the product, coverage and installation. Jamie fits the agreed system to its manufacturer's requirements; this service does not include a specialist acoustic survey or a guaranteed sound-reduction rating.

Can you fit panels around a TV, sockets or switches?

Yes, suitable layouts can include cuts around existing fittings. TV brackets and shelves need appropriate support in the wall behind; decorative panels alone are not the support. Any socket relocation, wiring changes or specialist electrical work are agreed separately and handled by an appropriately qualified electrician.

Can you fit decorative panelling as well as acoustic slats?

Yes. Share your chosen product or layout for a decorative feature wall, including paintable panel styles. Jamie will discuss the surface, cuts, edging and whether filling, sanding or painting forms part of the quoted work. Decorative panelling should not be assumed to have an acoustic performance rating.

Can panels go in bathrooms or beside a fireplace?

The exact product and position need checking. Standard timber or MDF acoustic panels should not be assumed suitable for wet areas or close to heat. Use a product expressly suited to the location and follow its installation and clearance requirements. Tell Jamie about moisture, heat sources and the intended position before buying.

How long does fitting take, and do I need to empty the room?

Timing is agreed after the wall and finish have been assessed. Preparation, detailed cuts, adhesive curing or decoration can affect the programme. Clear the work area and move fragile belongings; Jamie will discuss larger furniture, access and room protection with you before the visit.
