Washing machine and dishwasher installation

Washing machine installation and replacement, and dishwasher installation and replacement, may be suitable where accessible existing power, water and waste connections are compatible and in good condition. The agreed work can include positioning and levelling, fitting the supplied hoses and following the model’s installation instructions, including transit-bolt removal where applicable. Connected water and waste joints are checked for leaks and an appropriate initial operation check is carried out. Unsuitable valves, damaged pipework or new connections need separate assessment—not a forced fit.

A fridge door that sits straight and closes properly

An integrated fridge door usually combines an appliance door with a decorative kitchen furniture front. Replacement or alignment of that furniture front is assessed against its size, weight, condition, hinges and the appliance’s sliding or fixed-door system. Jamie checks the intended gaps and opening movement so the front does not catch its neighbours or prevent the appliance closing. A matching new front or compatible fixing kit may need sourcing separately. A broken appliance door, seal, hinge assembly or refrigeration fault may need the manufacturer or an appliance-repair specialist.

Cooker hoods, extractors and electric ovens

Cooker hood and extractor replacement depends on the mounting position, cabinet fit, existing ducting or recirculation arrangement and the manufacturer’s required clearances. Electric oven replacement and installation—including built-in ovens and integrated appliance fitting—also needs the correct housing, support, ventilation and electrical supply. Suitable factory-fitted plug-in appliances may be considered after checking the instructions and existing socket. Hardwired ovens or cooker hoods, new wiring and changes to electrical connections need a suitably qualified electrician where required; that involvement and cost are agreed before the job. Gas ovens, gas hobs and gas connections or disconnections are excluded.

Careful removal, with the awkward bits agreed first

The access route, floors, nearby cabinets and lifting needs are considered before removal, with appropriate protection used. If hidden damage, a seized valve or unsafe connections are found, the problem and any extra work are discussed before proceeding. Taking an appliance out of its housing is not the same as taking it away: collection, recycling, packaging removal and any charges must be agreed separately. Do not pull out a heavy appliance or expose wiring just to take a photograph.
