Explain what the wall needs to do
A decorative garden wall, a boundary wall and a wall retaining soil have different requirements. Send the proposed length and height, photos of the site and a description of its purpose. Ground levels, foundations, drainage, nearby structures and ownership or boundary permissions need consideration before any work is accepted.
New brickwork or rebuilding a defined section
A new wall or replacement section can be discussed alongside agreed coping, piers, mortar finish and connections to existing sound work. Matching existing bricks exactly is not always possible; product choices and the intended appearance are agreed first. Access for deliveries and removal of old materials affect the scope as well as the wall itself.
Design and specialist requirements come first
Structural work, retaining walls, unstable existing walls and load-bearing elements need the appropriate investigation and design. Jamie brings in qualified specialists where the agreed project requires them. Necessary permissions, checks and approvals are established for the particular job rather than assuming every wall is a simple maintenance task.
A written scope for materials, preparation and finishing
The quotation identifies the accepted wall design, preparation, materials, included labour and waste arrangements. Any specialist input, drainage or associated works are stated explicitly. Hidden ground conditions and requested changes are discussed before additional chargeable work proceeds; the maintenance visit price is not a quote for constructing a wall.
Small repairs are still welcome
If the wall only needs local repointing or a limited brick repair, the existing small-brickwork service may be the better route. Send a wider view as well as a close-up so Jamie can distinguish a focused repair from a larger building or investigation project.
